Safety & Security When Webcam Modeling
Written By Jordan Keith Topic: Be A Webcam Model, Safety/Security, Webcam Modeling
Everyone that is considering becoming a webcam model has some level of concerns about their security, privacy, and safety. And so should they. Keeping our webcam models safe & secure is of paramount importance to us. Our goal is to help you feel safe when working with us.
The Steps YOU should Take:
-Don’t share your stage name with anyone outside of our company. Treat it like you would a password. Your real identity is never used for webcam modeling outside of the sign up and payment process. Everything related to actually being a webcam model is covered under your stage name for your security. If your stage name is publicized to your social group then people can dig and dig and if they are motivated enough they might find something. Nothing is 100% private on the internet these days. By keeping your stage name private it will be virtually impossible for anyone to ever find any of your information.
-Be discerning about who you share your new line of work with. I don’t advise absolute secrecy it’s a fun job and cool to share. But don’t tell blabbermouths. They just cause trouble and want to stalk you. Your privacy off site is your own agenda and life is usually easier if you take steps to ensure it on your own. If you never want anyone to know, don’t ever tell anyone and they won’t.
The Steps We Take:
-State/Country IP Filtering: On our network you have the option to block any US State or any country in the world from seeing you online. If for example you block Washington state, it will appear as if you do not exist to anyone visiting any of our sites from Washington. These filters are very good and I recommend everyone block their home state by default, though it’s not required.
-Payments/Taxes: Payments sent to you will be from Pandora Entertainment LLC. Same with any tax documents.
-Customer Banning: If you have any customers in your room that are behaving unruly you are able to easily ban them from your room.
Maintaining your privacy is all about discretion. If you want to remain 100% private then you should tell no one outside of our company, not even your closest friends/family that you are going to do this. If you are less concerned about absolute privacy than letting people know what you do is fine and rarely causes any problems. As always use your best judgement.
if this is something you know you want to do here is a link to our application.

a few concerns,
is it possible for the viewer/customer to record and distribute the session, what is the likely hood?
do you maintain ownership of performer pics, etc?
how would employment here affect an application for a security clearance? Not a simple back ground im talking access to sensitive materials with the US GOV.

Hi,
Thanks for your questions. Here are some answers :).
On whether it is possible for the customer to record and distribute the session.
The short answer is that yes, it is possible. The likelihood however is very rare. We record 100s of hours of shows per day and do monitor all of the major tube sites for any of our content being posted illegally, it almost never happens. Since the customer is viewing it on their screen they could use screen capturing software to record the shows, there is no way to prevent that. But again, this really doesn’t happen. Most customers paying a lot of money for a 1 on 1 show have no interest in distributing that for free to others.
All of the content on our sites is owned by VS Media. This includes pictures, logo’s and the video broadcasts of models.
I cannot say for sure what/if any effect working for us would have on a security clearance application. We’ve had models go onto be police officers and it did come up in the background check phase from departments but it didn’t have any effect on hiring as all of them got the jobs they were after to my knowledge. I’ve never heard back from anyone who went through a security clearance check with webcam modeling. I would guess 100% that the security board doing reviews for top secret clearances and such would absolutely discover this in their searching, they are quite good.
My understanding of how the security clearance process works is that it’s essentially a group of officers in a room, reviewing everything you’ve ever done in your life and then voting either yes or no on giving a clearance. Whether or not this would effect that, I cannot say.

thank you for the info and quick response.
When you use photos etc for promotion, do you avoid using them in areas the performer has blocked. as per your example, you filter out WA. now you cant be found online in WA but could you be in a pop up add there?
i don’t mean grill you, i just want to make sure.

Na it’s cool, grill away :).
We don’t really use performer pictures for promotional purposes. The popup video’s that get used our actually feeds of live chatrooms, were it your live chatroom the state filtering would apply still and it wouldn’t show up in places you have blocked. But most of our placed ads around the web our actually banner ads which are all preformatted and feature models from actual photoshoots.

what about in teacher screening?
Jordan Keith May 14th, 2013 7:13 pm
Great question.
This actually isn’t one I’ve come across. Although I do know that we have some active K-12 teachers working as models. Honestly, I don’t know what the screening process is like for teachers so I can’t really comment.
I doubt school systems have the resources to be too powerful in their background checks. My advice would be if you decide to signup, NEVER share your stage name with anyone, not even your family, and never tell anyone you do it. That’s the only way you could reasonably guarantee it not ever coming up.

Just one question, are the tax documents sent by mail, or could they be sent by email so that we could print them ourselves? Say in a case where you do not live by yourself, by tax season, having something sent by mail could ruin the complete privacy you seek while being a webcam model. Also, would we have to fill out a w9 form while applying? I know other webcam modeling sites require you to do that.
Jordan Keith May 16th, 2013 5:20 am
Hi Rose,
We can scan/send via email if that is more convenient. That option is always available!
We don’t require a W9.
rose May 16th, 2013 5:51 am
okay, thank you.
and nothing else is ever sent to us in the mail or anything, right? pretty much the only information we should be getting back from you are the tax documents one time during the year?
Jordan Keith May 16th, 2013 11:02 am
That’s correct! We’re very lazy, we don’t even like mailing tax documents out :P. But it’s one of those things we have to make sure we do.
